How long have you been in business?
Business started in 2003, however the owner has been in the business for more than 29 years.
What is your primary product or service?
Taxi services and courier services are what we primarly offer. We also handle workman comp cases and corporate accounts. We go any distance as far as out of town trips and have taken passengers in the past as far as Bloomington, IL. We do trips often to the Washington DC area airports as well as Williamsburg and Norfolk, VA.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I started driving a cab on my days off for extra money back when I worked for the phone company. After deregulation of the phone industry, I ended up without a job. I couldn't find a job that would match the pay or benefits. I knew that driving a cab, you could write your own paycheck depending how hard you wanted to work. Everyday was and still is an exciting adventure. I learned the ropes and listened to the complaints from my customers about other cab companies. I have put together an upscale transportation service that specializes in everyday people and getting them to their destinations in a safe and timely manner. We pick up all over Richmond including Ashland and Chester. We run the hardest in the Southside of Richmond because customers have a tough time getting service due to the area being so spread out. You never know who you are going to meet or where you are going to go and you make money too. This is great! The longest trip from Richmond that I have ever done went all the way to Bloomington, IL. I have had several celebrities ride with me like Mark Spitz, some of the Harlem Globetrotters and even Miss Virginia. The company continues to grow and we became a LLC in 2008. We started a second company in Chester, VA in July 2009.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We try to be more of an upscale company than most taxis. We have nice clean smoke free sedans and vans with drivers who speak English and can be understood easily. We accept all credit cards and reservations. We are willing to work with our customers on long distance trips. We help with any trip that requires special needs like taking a credit card by phone because another person needs to pay for the ride. We will match or give a better rate on out of the area transportation than most other taxis and you still get a nice vehicle to enjoy your ride. We will show up on time for reserved calls or we will call ahead of time and let you know of why we may not have arrived such as traffic delays. We are the only company in the area that guarantees our long distance rates to be the best or we will pay up to $100 if we don't to the company who does.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We are a small company and know many of our regular customers on a personal basis. We have one base operation and have new vehicles added to the company on a regular basis as the company and the demand continues to grow. We started Chester Express Shuttle and Taxi almost eight years ago and we are always looking for new ideals and ways to increase our ridership and their loyalty.
What type of payments do you accept?
We accept ALL Major Credit Cards including American Express, Discover, cash and corporate account billing. There is a $15 minimum when using a credit card.
Which areas do you service?
We serve all of the Richmond,VA Metro area with emphasis on the Southside of Richmond. We also go outside of these areas as our customers may have need and request.

What are your hours of operation?
We are open 7 days a week and open early and run late. Passengers can request any time needed in advance and we will get the call handled by one of our drivers or network with another company who will.
